BBC Sport is to run its Euro 2020 coverage from dock10 in Salford.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, coverage will be broadcast from BBC Sport’s studio facility at dock10, MediaCityUK, and from stadiums across the UK. Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan, Eilidh Barbour and Mark Chapman will lead the BBC’s coverage of the Euros.

Andy Waters, Head of Studios at dock10, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting the BBC Sport team for Euro 2020. Over the last year we have worked closely with the BBC and outside broadcast suppliers to ensure the smooth delivery of live events through our remote gallery solution. The Euros mark the start of a summer of sporting events being broadcast from dock10.”

“Ongoing changes in international travel mean that we need to be really flexible and adapt as production requirements change,” continues Andy Waters. “We have the capability to reconfigure very quickly to meet rapidly changing needs. Our Covid-19 safety processes have been in place since March last year and include multiple measures to ensure the safest possible working environment. We have temperature checks on arrival, a one-way system, masks, additional hand cleaning locations, plastic screens and extra rooms.”

The BBC’s Euro 2020 broadcasts will be from dock10’s virtual studio. “Our virtual studio capability is now available in all of our studios,” says Andy Waters. “This gives our customers the flexibility to choose a space that is the right size for their production rather than being restricted to a single green screen studio. Changing the virtual set with new graphics is one of the key advantages of the system and it is perfect for Euro 2020.”
