Disney is to spend US$5bn or more in the UK and Europe over the next five years on film and TV, according to Jan Koeppen, president of Disney for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, speaking to the Financial Times.

The third instalment of Superhero movie Deadpool & Wolverine (pictured), which was made at Pinewood Studios, is currently the second highest grossing movie of 2024, behind Inside Out 2, another Disney release.

Disney has spent around US$3.5bn on production in the UK over the last five years.

Koeppen, based in London, in Disney’s Hammersmith offices, told  the Financial Times that there was a lot more growth ahead.

The budget will be spent on features, as well as TV for Disney + and National Geographic and other TV productions.
