Jan Koeppen, Disney’s EMEA president, has reaffirmed the company’s “long and deep connection” with the UK production sector.
Koeppen made his comments during a talk at Deloitte’s Media & Telecoms 2024 and Beyond Conference today.
During a presentation screened before his speech, it was revealed that Disney has spent £3.5bn on UK production over the last five years. That sum included 29 feature films and 41 shows for Disney+ along with 90 titles for Nat Geo.
The presentation said that this investment had supported 32,000 jobs and had given 300 trainees their first opportunity in filmmaking.
“Disney has been producing content here in the UK for a long time – almost 75 years in fact,” he said and added ““Our long and deep connection with the UK is something that we’re very proud of – contributing to the economy, creating jobs, opportunities, skills and partnering with the wider industry.”
