Discovery UK has ordered a true crime documentary, One Bullet In Belize, that explores the widely-reported investigation into the night that police chief, Henry Jemmott, was killed with one bullet from his police firearm. Produced by SPA Media for Passion Distribution and Discovery UK, it will drop on discovery+ in June this year.
In May 2021 news broke that Jasmine Hartin, partner of Andrew Ashcroft, son of UK billionaire Lord Michael Ashcroft, had allegedly shot Henry Jemmott dead on a pier in San Pedro, Belize, a small UK Commonwealth country on the shores of the Caribbean. In a series of exclusive in-depth interviews, Jasmine Hartin talks about the night that changed her life forever. The one-hour documentary also features interviews with those closest to Hartin and to Henry Jemmott.
Jasmine Hartin, who claims the shooting was an accident, is charged with manslaughter by negligence and is currently awaiting her trial. The documentary has followed Hartin over six months as she fights to clear her name. The documentary also features Henry Jemmott’s sister and a number of local residents who voice their suspicions about Hartin’s account of the night.
Clare Laycock, SVP Planning & Insights, head of entertainment at Discovery UK, said: “The death of police chief Henry Jemmott in Belize was reported around the world and left so many questions unanswered and One Bullet In Belize is a chance for those closest to the case to tell their story. We are delighted to work with Passion Distribution to gain new and exclusive access to Jasmine Hartin, along with extensive materials that shed more light on what happened that night in May 2021.”
Steve Anderson, executive producer for SPA Media, said: “During the intense aftermath of the death of Henry Jemmott, our team had unrivalled access to Jasmine Hartin who talks candidly about what happened on the pier. This access is combined with the thoughts and feelings of Mr Jemmott’s family and friends, giving viewers of One Bullet In Belize a unique 360 look at the tragic events of the night.”
The documentary was ordered by Clare Laycock, commissioned by Charlotte Reid and executive produced by Matt Reid. The executive producer for SPA Media is Steve Anderson and associate producers for Passion Distribution are Nick Tanner and Emmanuelle Namiech.
