Sky has confirmed a one-off documentary, One for the Road, which will go behind the scenes with Boyzone as the band prepares to reunite for the very last time.
The film follows the success of the Curious Films-produced Sky Original Boyzone: No Matter What.
The film follows the boy band as they reunite for a comeback in two landmark gigs at the Emirates Stadium.
Against the backdrop of decades of personal history and the pressure of thousands of expectant fans, the band return carrying unresolved tensions and unfinished business from their final tour in 2019. This time, they want to go out on their own terms and have the send-off that they – and the fans – so badly want.
“The response to the series was incredible, breaking records for the Sky Docs team. I think audiences really engaged in a celebrity doc with such raw truth and honesty” says Exec Producer Dov Freedman. “We’re incredibly privileged to be working with the boys again and telling the story of their final chapter”
Hayley Reynolds, Head of Documentary Commissioning, Sky said: “Boyzone: No Matter What sparked an extraordinary outpouring of love for the band, and we’re thrilled to be working with Curious again to document this landmark reunion — something that may never have happened had the boys not approached telling their story with such honesty and candid testimony.”
Boyzone: One for the Road is produced by Curious Films, directed by Caroline Sciama and executive produced by Dov Freedman & Charlie Russell. The series is commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, Executive Director, Unscripted Originals at Sky for Cécile Frot-Coutaz, Chief Advertising and Content Officer, Sky, CEO Sky Studios. The Head of Documentary Commissioning is Hayley Reynolds, and the Commissioning Editor for Sky is Jo Hughes.
