Coffee & TV is joining forces with ex- Fifty Fifty md, Cara Kotschy, to launch a specialist picture finishing facility for the long-form post market.

Residence Pictures will launch in Spring 2022 with a sole focus on picture finishing in the high-end episodic, feature and drama markets.

Following in the footsteps of sister company and majority investor Coffee & TV, Residence Pictures will be “centred around its team and a progressive and diverse culture based on trust.”

Residence Pictures will be owned by the key players that run it with profits distributed within the whole team.

Working closely with Coffee & TV, Kotschy has handpicked a “collective of industry-leading elite talent” who will join them as Co-Founders. The yet to be announced trio will “deliver exceptional creative and technical excellence for every project.”

Residence Pictures will also establish a training academy to offer practical training for young people who are under-represented and marginalised within the industry.  The aim of the scheme is to make every single graduate from the course employable and “legitimately build a pathway that enables a diverse representation of backgrounds, cultures and lived experiences not just into Residence Pictures but to the industry overall.”

New talent appointments at Residence Pictures are imminent, with the remaining Co-Founders joining in early 2022. The service offering will comprise of end to end workflow planning and execution, colour grading, online QC and delivery with invisible and specialist visual effects provided by Coffee and TV.

Cara Kotschy, Managing Director and Co-Founder, Residence Pictures said: “I’m over the moon to be working with Coffee & TV to bring such a unique and forward-thinking facility to the UK post market. Together we are defining and shaping a culture characterised by the shared values of our founding partners that respects each individual, encourages mutual trust and empowers employees. So that we can be bold, creative and successful. Our goal is to become the market leader in high-end picture finishing and our service offering will be focussed to reflect this so that we are able to reach our ambition without the distraction of managing additional departments. I’m especially excited about piloting the training academy. There simply is not enough diverse talent in the UK post industry particularly in creative and leadership roles and we see it as our responsibility to take action and truly champion change.”

Derek Moore, CEO and Co-Founder, Coffee & TV said: “Cara is one of the most successful MD’s in the industry, so we couldn’t think of a better person to help build a new long form company within the Coffee & TV group. We share the same values and commitment to establish a creative and supportive working environment, that’s not just the best but the best for people and the planet. We’re excited to see where this journey into drama may take us and we also hope Residence Pictures might join us with B Corp Certification one day too!”

Kotschy spent the past decade as Managing Director of Fifty Fifty Post Production where she led the Company through three major expansions. She spent many years before that post producing both long and short-form projects in non-scripted, factual and entertainment.
