Channel 5 has commissioned Crackit to produce documentary series ‘Made in Yorkshire’ (2×60) which sees former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott going behind the scenes of some of Yorkshire’s most famous factories to discover the secrets behind the region’s iconic foods.
Prescott, who has lived in Yorkshire for most of his life and was the MP for Hull East for 40 years, journeys around the region, learning about the processes and getting involved in production on the factory floor.
John Prescott said: “What an eye opener for me to explore that important Yorkshire food products went from the village shop to the supermarket shelves across the UK. An absolute delight to appear in”
Adrian Padmore, commissioner at Channel 5, said: “We’re delighted to bring John Prescott to Channel 5 to explore his passion for Yorkshire’s finest food factories. This warm and uplifting programme is a real treat celebrating Yorkshire’s incredible workers and products.”
Executive Producer, Crackit Productions, Kerry Brierley, said: “It was a pleasure to make this series with John as we both share a love of all things Northern. His passion for his beloved county shone through as he explored the amazing factories and met the dedicated workers who’ve made these Yorkshire products world famous.”
Commissioned by Adrian Padmore, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5, the two-part series will transmit later in the spring.
