Channel 4 has recommissioned two series from Yorkshire-based True North, ordering a second series of Yorkshire by the Sea and a sixth series of Devon & Cornwall.

Yorkshire By The Sea will return for five episodes, again celebrating the people and coastal landscape of England’s largest county, North Yorkshire and neighbouring East Yorkshire, through the stories of everyday heroes and communities living and working along the spectacular Yorkshire coast.

Living alongside the fast-eroding coastline makes every day a challenge, and the new series will also continue to explore how communities are facing the realities of climate change through innovation, industry and diversification.

Devon & Cornwall will also return for five new episodes, following daily life in the South West from the viewpoint of locals, villagers, farmers, fishermen, shopkeepers and those working across the tourist industry.

Commissioning Executive for Channel 4, Jasper Hone said, “Both series have proved hugely popular with viewers thanks to their warmth, authenticity and the remarkable people at the heart of every story. It’s exciting to reconnect with the communities that have made these titles such enduring favourites.”

True North’s Creative Director, Christian Hills said, “What better way to spend the summer months than filming in both Devon, Cornwall and along the Yorkshire coast, meeting some fantastic characters and exploring fascinating lives.

“By allowing these people to share their stories, narrated entirely in their own words and accompanied by stunning visuals, the series set a new benchmark for the genre.”

Both series were commissioned for Channel 4 by Jasper Hone, Commissioning Executive, with Jo Street, Director of Commissioning, Nations & Regions and Head of Lifestyle. The executive producer for True North is Christian Hills.
