Channel 4 has confirmed the commission of two new series and two celebrity specials of music quiz PopMaster TV, following four successful series on More4.

Produced by ITV Studios’ Bright Entertainment and hosted by Ken Bruce, the new commission will deliver 20 fresh episodes to More 4. Contestants from across the UK will once again compete through a series of rounds testing their pop music knowledge, all leading to the Original PopMaster finale and the chance to win the coveted gold disc. The series will film in Glasgow, Scotland.

Popmaster TV is based on the radio quiz, which has been running for over 25 years

Ken Bruce comments, “It’s been a joy to see the success of PopMaster TV grow, and I am delighted to be back filming once again. I am very much looking forward to testing the brilliant knowledge of pop music fans everywhere.”

Lily Wilson, Managing Director of Bright Entertainment, added, “Ken Bruce and PopMaster are British institutions, so we’re incredibly excited to be bringing more episodes to More4. The series celebrates the best of music with addictive playalong – we can’t wait to be back on screen!”

Michael Mannes, Executive Producer said, “I am thrilled to continue the PopMaster TV journey we started a few years back with Ken Bruce and More4. It has proved hugely popular with the audience and we’re looking forward to getting back in the studio”.

Jo Street, Channel 4’s Director of Commissioning, Nations & Regions & Head of Lifestyle said, “With Ken Bruce at the helm, PopMaster continues to feel both timeless and fresh and it has proven itself as a real audience favourite on More4, delivering warmth, nostalgia and genuinely compelling play-along television. We’re thrilled to be bringing it back with new episodes and celebrity specials, building on its strong performance and the huge affection viewers have for the format.”

PopMaster TV is a 20×60’ episode commission for More4. It was ordered by Channel 4’s Director of Commissioning, Nations & Regions & Head of Lifestyle, Jo Street and will be overseen by Commissioning Executive Barry Agnew. The series will be Executive Produced by Martin Scott, Michael Mannes and Zoe Tait for Bright Entertainment. International distribution for PopMaster TV is handled by ITV Studios.
