Channel 4 has commissioned George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces: First Homes, a new four-part series from Plum Pictures, fronted by architect and property expert George Clarke.
Britain is in the grip of a housing crisis, with many people unable to afford a traditional bricks-and-mortar home. In this new series, George meets the proactive and determined people finding creative ways to put a roof over their heads.
Across four episodes, Clarke and his long-time collaborator Will Hardie meet individuals, couples and families driven to create homes in unconventional spaces. From buses and boats to former toilet blocks and tiny homes, the series follows those transforming unexpected places into affordable homes of their own.
George Clarke said: “We’re living through a time when having a home of your own feels increasingly out of reach for many people. Across this series I was lucky enough to follow the stories of some truly amazing people working hard to build their own first home for the very first time. It’s full of ambition, hope, creativity and optimism, but it also highlights why our broken housing system needs to change.”
