Sir Damon Buffini will stand down as a non-executive director, Deputy Chair of the BBC Board and Chair of the Commercial Board when his current term ends.

Sir Damon, who joined the BBC in January 2022, informed the Board and Commercial Board that he will step down on June 30.

BBC Chair, Samir Shah said: “I’m extremely grateful to Damon for the service, dedication and support he has given, both to me and to the BBC.

“Damon cares deeply about the BBC, the arts and ensuring we have a thriving and growing creative sector in the UK.

“Under his leadership, BBC Commercial has gone from strength to strength. BBC Studios has grown to become a £2bn+ business and is the UK’s most awarded producer. Overall the BBC’s commercial businesses have delivered record profits, and £400m of returns to the BBC in 24/25 alone. That stellar commercial performance is fundamental to providing sustainable, long-term support for the whole of the BBC, both now and in the future.”

The process to appoint a successor will now begin.
