Matthew Bristowe, former md of Jellyfish Pictures, has been appointed by WPP-owned Hogarth as its new Global Director of VFX.

In this newly created role, Bristowe will champion Hogarth’s globally connected team of 2D/3D CGI producers, artists and technologists and strengthen Hogarth’s global production strategy.

He will report into Penri Jones, Global Chief Production and Innovation Officer and be based out of the company’s head office in London.

At Jellyfish Pictures, he oversaw global operations across four studios, covering VFX, Feature Animation, Technology and Creative. He was also responsible for financial sustainability, strategy and client management.

Over the course of his career, Bristowe has worked across commercial, feature film and episodic VFX, and won BAFTA and EMMY nominations and awards. His 25+ years in the industry have seen him work with Warner Bros, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Disney, DreamWorks, Sony Pictures, Paramount, Lucasfilm and Marvel on landmark shows such as Star Wars the Harry Potter Franchise, Stranger Things, Guardians Of The Galaxy, The Crown, Gravity and more.
