Blink Films is set to produce the new Curiosity original series Cracking the Code, investigating the greatest codes known to humanity and the brilliant minds that deciphered them.

Curiosity, the global factual media company, commissioned the series, with Drive, the production-funding and distribution agency, providing additional financing and distributing the series in selected markets.

Featuring 3D graphics alongside archive and interviews with the key protagonists and cryptography experts, ‘Cracking the Code’ (8 x 60’) reveals the high stakes stories of the race to unravel a wide range of secret codes, from the cipher-breaking heroine who took on the mob to the code-breaking brilliance that changed the course of World War II, and the hunt for the Zodiac Killer right through to cracking the human genetic code.

Drive brokered the deal as well as secured pre-sales to Sky HISTORY in the UK and WELT in Germany to further support the financing of the series.

Executive producers on ‘Cracking the Code’ are Noah Morowitz for Curiosity Studios, Andra Heritage and Dan Chambers for Blink and Ben Barrett for Drive.

Ben Barrett, joint Managing Director of Drive said: “‘Cracking the Code’ will deliver a really strong and diverse mix of incredible code breaking stories which by their very nature are packed with excitement and jeopardy. We’re really excited to be partnering on this series that gives a fresh approach to some great historical stories, and we look forward to taking the series out to international buyers in due course”.

Dan Chambers, Co-Founder and Creative Director, Blink Films said “It’s always a delight to discover a new, rich seam of stories. Following the most gripping code breaking stories takes us into ancient history, science, crime and military conflict, and all with seriously high stakes. We are very grateful to Drive and Curiosity for making this series happen.”
