Blazing Griffin has appointed Danny Page as Head of Pictures as the company strengthens its focus on film.

Naysun Alae-Carew, Managing Director, will continue as Executive Producer across the film slate while also leading company strategy and overseeing new funding rounds.

In 2024, Blazing Griffin paused its television slate to concentrate on feature films, delivering three titles in 2025 – California Schemin’, the directorial debut of James McAvoy, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Special Presentations programme. Based on a true story, the film follows two Scottish men who pose as Americans to pursue their dreams of hip-hop stardom; Glenrothan, the directorial debut of Brian Cox, which premiered at TIFF in the Gala Presentations. The film is a tense drama about family and forgiveness, starring Alan Cumming (The Anniversary Party), Shirley Henderson (Trainspotting) and Alexandra Shipp (Tick, Tick… Boom!) and Grow, a family film that premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 16 August and will be released on Sky Cinema on 10 October. It stars Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton), Nick Frost (How to Train Your Dragon), and introduces Priya-Rose Brookwell.

Danny Page, lead producer of California Schemin’  is the founder of Homefront Productions and is currently producing Farida: The Girl Who Fought ISIS with veteran producer Lloyd Levin (United 93, Watchmen). A frequent collaborator with Patriot Pictures and previously a development consultant for studios including Endemol and Skydance, Page brings experience spanning independent cinema and large-scale international productions. At Blazing Griffin, he will shape a slate of mid-budget features, “uniting top talent with stories that inspire and connect with audiences.”

Danny Page, Head of Pictures at Blazing Griffin said: “Working closely together on California Schemin’ convinced me that Naysun and the Blazing Griffin team were exactly the kind of collaborators I wanted to be alongside. There’s a rare appetite here for stories that are both commercially ambitious and creatively distinctive. I’m excited to help drive that vision forward, both at home and internationally.”

Naysun Alae-Carew, Managing Director of Blazing Griffin said: “After collaborating on California Schemin’, the creative chemistry (some might say madness) made it clear we should be working with Danny more permanently. His commercial sensibility and outward-looking ambition align closely with ours at Blazing Griffin, so bringing him on board as Head of Pictures feels like a natural evolution. I’m genuinely excited to work in close partnership with him as we expand the breadth and ambition of our storytelling.”

The hire comes as Blazing Griffin builds on international festival recognition and prepares for its next stage of growth, including new funding rounds and expanded post-production facilities.
