Joe Walker, editor of Dune, has followed his Oscar win with the prize for best edited single drama in this year’s British Film Editors Cut Above Awards.

The eleven BFE award winners also include  Úna Ní Dhonghaíle for Belfast, Janus Billeskov Jansen for Flee, Joshua L. Pearson for Summer of Soul and Jabez Olssen for The Beatles: Get Back.

Editing teams on five productions also landed a BFE award. For Arcane, Gilad Carmel, Lawrence Gan, Roberto Fernandez, Ernesto Matamoros, Nazim Meslem, Ivan Bilancio, Martin Jay, Benjamin Massoubre, Emmanuel Pilinski and David Ian Salter. For Sex Education (Season 3),  Steve Ackroyd, David Webb, Phil Hignett & Izabella Curry. For Cow, Nicolas Chaudeurge, Rebecca Lloyd and Jacob Secher Schulsinger. Whilst Amy E. Duddleston & Naomi Sunrise Filoramo won for Mare of Easttown.

The Michael Johns Award for Outstanding Assistant Editor went to Mark Burton and the Chris Crookall Award for Breakthrough Editor to Melissa Lo.

The annual BFE Cut Above Awards are the UK’s only awards ceremony to solely recognise excellence in film editing.

The winners were announced on the 29th April during a live-streamed virtual ceremony, alongside an in-person celebration at Twickenham Film Studios.
