BBC Studios Entertainment has been commissioned to produce Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, a new entertainment series which will see Hammond take the celebrity interview in a new direction as she spends two days with some of the UK’s biggest celebrities.

In the six-part series, coming next year to BBC One and iPlayer, each episode  – filmed across the UK – will see Hammond spend 48 hours with a celebrity where she will get to know them.

Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC says: “Alison is one of the most warm-hearted presenters in the UK and it’s no surprise that big name celebrities are lining up to have her spend the weekend at their homes. It’s going to be a blast!”

Mel Balac, Creative Director for Entertainment at BBC Studios says: “Alison is the perfect woman for the job. She wears her heart on her sleeve and her incredible openness, energy and warmth will shed new light on the celebrities she spends the weekend with. When Alison comes knocking it’s a special appointment you won’t want to miss!”

Alison Hammond says: “I’m so excited to serve up some big lols and tons of OMG revelations on the BBC as I spend some quality time with some of the UK’s favourite celebrities. When I’m on a mission no secret is safe, and trust me no stone or cupboard will go unturned!”

Broadcast details and celebrity guests will be announced in due course.

Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend (6 x 30’) is made by BBC Studios Entertainment and was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC . The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Katie Taylor. The Executive Producer is Mel Balac, Creative Director for Entertainment at BBC Studios. The Managing Director for BBC Studios Entertainment is Suzy Lamb.
