BBC Studios has agreed partnerships with both actor, writer and director Diane Morgan and actor, comedian and writer Nick Mohammed to develop, co-produce and distribute new projects.

The deal will see BBC Studios work with both Morgan and Mohammed to create their own slates of scripted projects, co-produced through BBC Studios’ production portfolio, with BBC Studios also representing and distributing globally.

Actor, writer and comedian Diane Morgan is best known for her incarnation of professional dim-wit ‘Philomena Cunk’. The popularity of the character saw the BBC commission two specials and two full series, Cunk on Britain and more recently Cunk on Earth, which is now also streaming globally on Netflix. Morgan created, writes, directs and stars in popular comedy narrative Mandy, produced by BBC Studios and Witchcraft Industries, now on its third series. Morgan plays the regular role of Liz in critically acclaimed and BAFTA winning comedy series Motherland (BBC) and starred as Kath in Ricky Gervais’ hit comedy After Life (Netflix). Other credits also include the regular role of Fiona in Frayed (Sky/HBO Max), Inside no.9 (BBC) and Netflix comedy specials Death to 2020 andDeath to 2021 alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant and Lisa Kudrow. Diane was the recipient of the Variety Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2022 Edinburgh TV Awards and won the award for Outstanding Supporting Role at this year’s National Comedy Awards.

Nick Mohammed plays Nate in Apple’s Emmy award-winning series, Ted Lasso, opposite Jason Sudeikis. Mohammed was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the Emmy Awards for both the first and second series. On the feature side Mohammed recently shot a leading role opposite Jon Hamm and Tina Fey, in the upcoming film Maggie Moore(s), directed by John Slattery, which will be released later this year.

Further acting credits include Joe Cornish’s The Kid who would be King, Ridley Scott’s The Martian, Bridget Jones’s Baby and The Ab Fab Movie. Nick voiced Piglet in Disney’s live action feature Christopher Robin and played the Butler in Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. He has featured in a host of TV comedies including HBO and Sky’s Sally4ever, Channel 4’s Stath Lets Flatsand BBC One’s This Time With Alan Partridge. On top of all this, Nick has just finished filming a regular role in the hotly anticipated first series of Sally Wainwright’s The Ballad of Renegade Nell for Disney+.

The deals were was brokered by United Agents Ltd, Jonathan Blyth at BBC Studios, and James Kay at Sheridans.
