The BBC has issued an Invitation to Tender for its sports content strand Sports+.

Sport+ is BBC Sport’s cross-platform audience offer “dedicated to the best stories in sport – evergreen, impactful and designed to resonate with audiences wherever they are.” The tender is focused on ideas for three of its strands: Rivals, 24 Hours with & Unfiltered.

The BBC will commission up to 6 hours of content, with long-form versions of each proposal expected to be between 30 minutes and 60 minutes in duration. “An extensive range of other content deliverables will be required.”

The strands are:

Rivals: landmark stories of iconic sporting rivalries that have shaped their sport. These films combine major names and deep archive, with fresh insight and unexpected contributors. Check out Messi v Ronaldo for an example.

24 Hours With…immersive, access-led storytelling designed for U35 audiences, offering an intimate look at life inside sport and what makes a professional sportsperson. 24 hours with Ella Toone on BBC Sport’s YouTube channel is an example.

Unfiltered: first-person, in-depth storytelling that reveals the reality behind sport. This strand includes ideas with a strong investigative or journalistic perspective like How Safe is Rugby? , meeting the BBC’s strict requirements around impartiality and fairness.

The content will need to run on BBC iPlayer with a full length version (roughly between 30 and 60 minutes in duration); BBC Sport’s YouTube Channels – full length version and shorts; BBC Sport website/app & social media – on average, a 60 minute long-form piece will yield around 8 vertical video clips (with subtitling) and c4 16×9 videos (for the BBC Sport website/App) and BBC TV – potentially the full-length version and/or edits that could be used within BBC Sport’s event programming.
