Hit sports entertainment show, Gladiators, made by Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK has been confirmed for a new series by the BBC.

The show became the biggest entertainment launch for a new series in seven years with 28 day figures showing that 9.8m viewers watched the first episode, with the series averaging 8.3 million viewers to date.

The hugely successful first series hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh saw 16 new Gladiators: Sabre, Legend, Nitro, Diamond, Phantom, Athena, Bionic, Fire, Giant, Dynamite, Viper, Electro, Apollo, Comet, Steel and Fury quickly become household names as viewers cheered on their favourites as they competed against Contenders in iconic events such as Duel and Powerball, culminating in the iconic Eliminator.

Gladiators (11 x 60’) is a Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The show was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC. The Executive Producers are Dan Baldwin and Lou Brown for Hungry Bear Media and Dom Bird and  Barry Poznick for MGM Alternative. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Clodagh O’Donoghue.

The UK series was developed by Hungry Bear Media, whilst the original American Gladiators series was created by Johnny C. Ferraro and Dan Carr.
