Indie Strawberry Blond TV has hired Commissioning Editor for Entertainment and Fact Ent at BBC Children’s, Hugh Lawton, as Development Executive.

He joins Strawberry Blond after ten years as Commissioning Editor at the BBC. Prior to the BBC, Lawton was an Executive Producer at multiple companies.

The Children’s BAFTA nominated Production Company of the Year currently produces two series for CBBC : Love Love Love (35 x 20’) and Clipheads (40 x 15’) and recently announced a new stripped fact ent series Strangers on A Plane for Channel 4 Daytime which starts airing next month.

Lawton will work across Strawberry Blond’s development slate of entertainment, fact ent, music and youth content alongside Creative Director, Tom Benson-Geddes.

Steve Wynne, CEO said, “It’s a real coup to have someone of Hugh’s experience join the team. Not many Execs have worked across so many genres and are programme makers too.”

Hugh Lawton commented, “It’s so exciting to be making content with the hugely creative and vibrant people at Strawberry Blond”.
