Cal Turner and Jasmyn McGuile have been appointed as Commissioning Editors in the BBC’s Factual Entertainment & Events dept, headed up by Catherine Catton.

Cal Turner, who joins from Channel 4, has worked across major factual entertainment formats including The Apprentice, Snowflake Mountain, Grand Designs and Undercover Boss.  

Her BBC pedigree stretches back to iconic shows such as Maestro At The Opera, Freaky Eaters and The Apprentice: You’re Fired.

Cal Turner says: “I am delighted to become a part of the BBC during this dynamic period, as its roster of successful shows continues to thrive. Collaborating with Catherine Catton and her exceptional team is a prospect I eagerly anticipate, as we collectively embark on the journey to discover the next wave of iconic titles for the BBC.”

Jasmyn McGuile has been promoted to Commissioning Editor after 18 months at the BBC. Based in Bristol, she is overseeing BBC Three’s upcoming I Kissed a Girl, BBC Two’s upcoming The Hairy Bikers Go West, Countryfile and DIY SOS. She was Commissioning Executive for BBC Three’s Dubai Hustle, The Hairy Bikers: Coming Home for Christmas and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Before taking up her role in commissioning, McGuile held senior development roles at RDF West, Wall to Wall, Firecracker and more.
