Banijay UK indies RDF and Remarkable Factual are to merge with the boss of both indies, Kitty Walshe, set to leave the company.
Jo Scarratt-Jones, md of RDF West, and Meredith Chambers who heads up the London division are to stay with the company.
Redundancies are reported to be in the offing with the new company to be rebadged as RDF.
Deadline, who broke the story, were told by a Banijay spokeswoman: “We have been reviewing the structure of RDF and Remarkable Factual over the past 12 months and have made the decision to bring the two businesses together as RDF. Banijay UK is committed to long term growth, and we believe that this structure will provide renewed clarity to the market and make the business stronger, more agile and focused to meet the creative needs of a changing market. Staff have been informed and we are reviewing a new structural proposal with them.”
In 2021, Walshe stepped up from Managing Director of Remarkable Factual to take on a newly created role which put her at the helm of sister non scripted company RDF as well as Remarkable Factual.
Founded in 1993, RDF has offices in West London and Bristol and has produced shows including the critically acclaimed The Secret Life of 4 and 5 Year Olds for Channel 4, Eat Well For Less? and Shop Well for Less? for BBC One.
Remarkable’s shows include Your Home Made Perfect.
