Banijay Group is to launch Fearless Minds, the second scripted production company to be added to the UK division of Banijay this year.
The new company follows the launch of BlackLight TV in the spring.
Fearless Minds is a joint venture with Managing Director Jolyon Symonds (pictured). The indie will develop and produce “memorable, distinctive, original stories for the UK and the international market, working with writers and directors to support their vision and creativity.”
Symonds has previously produced award-winning drama and feature films including the Thorne series with David Morrissey for Sky One, the Bafta-winning drama Complicit written by Guy Hibbert for Channel 4, Kevin and Perry Go Large and Danny Brocklehurst’s The Driver for BBC One. Symonds previously ran On The Corner Entertainment (with producer James Gay Rees, actor David Morrissey and director Asif Kapadia) where company credits included the Oscar and Bafta-winning film Amy.
Peter Langenberg, COO Banijay Group said: “We are excited to work with such an acclaimed scripted producer as Jolyon Symonds. This joint venture again shows our ambition to grow our global scripted business”.
Jolyon Symonds said: “I am delighted to be in partnership with the Banijay Group, which has impressed me with the level of its ambition and commitment to having a significant presence in the scripted arena.”
Takis Candilis, Head of Fiction, Banijay Group said: "The creation of Fearless Minds shows, once again, Banijay Group’s desire to strengthen its position in the scripted genre in the UK, and in each of the eleven countries where our companies produce fiction. Thanks to Jolyon Symonds for bringing his expertise and his talent to our international network of creative producers.”
