Production group Argonon, has made a new round of investment across the group with appointments, promotions and enhanced development budgets, as part of a strategy to drive growth out of the pandemic.
The appointments are across production, commercial and communications.
In production, Argonon has bolstered its production companies with investment in the development teams. Danny O’Brien has been promoted to Head of Development for Like a Shot Entertainment, the production company behind long-running brands including Abandoned Engineering and Mysteries of the Abandoned. Danny has produced many of Like A Shot’s most successful returning series, including Private Lives of the Monarchs, Shipwreck Secrets and World War Two From Above. The investment in development across the group also sees an increased development budget for scripted arm Leopard Pictures with an ambition to develop programming for the streamers.
On the commercial team, Niall Carmichael-Johns has been appointed as Commercial Executive, Bandicoot TV, with a remit to grow commercial operations. Niall, who brings 20 years of sector experience including roles at BBC, ITV and Banijay, joins permanently in July with a focus on major brands including The Masked Singer UK.
Argonon has also created an in-house comms team, with Rich Turner joining as Global Director of Communications with a remit to build the international reputation of Argonon and its eight production companies. Turner reports into CEO James Burstall whilst also continuing to run his agency indie house which he launched during the pandemic. Also joining the comms team is Social Media Executive Alice Chuter with a remit across Argonon’s social media output. Chuter will work closely with Turner across all comms.
Argonon CEO James Burstall commented: “Talent is the lifeblood of our business and today’s announcement marks another milestone in our growth ambitions as we look to generate new programme ideas, exploit commercial opportunities around our brilliant brands and build our international reputation. We’ll be announcing further investment as we actively seek to grow our global footprint in the months ahead.”
Argonon is home to production companies including Bandicoot (The Masked Singer, ITV); Leopard Pictures (Worzel Gummidge, BBC One); BriteSpark Films (Dispatches, Channel 4); Leopard USA (House Hunters International, HGTV); Windfall Films (Unearthed, Discovery); Like A Shot (Abandoned Engineering, Discovery) and Studio Leo (Inside Tesco 24/7, Channel 5).
