Apple has hired Molly Thompson as head of documentaries for its soon-to-launch streaming service.
Thompson previously founded A&E Indie Films, the feature film production unit of A+E Networks, and is the former head of documentary films for A+E Networks.
She has executive produced documentaries including The Clinton Affair, Studio 54, City of Ghosts, Life, Animated, Cartel Land, Murderball, and Jesus Camp.
She also executive produced Bart Layton’s BAFTA-winning The Imposter.
Additionally, Thompson served as executive producer on all feature films produced under the History Films banner, including Werner Herzog’s Meeting Gorbachev and Errol Morris’ The Unknown Known: The Life and Times of Donald Rumsfeld.
