Wilkinson, who has developed a wealth of sailing programming experience as a producer, presenter and commentator, has been charged with editorial responsibility for the international magazine TV programme devoted to the sport of sailing, as well as driving audience growth through television and the digital channel partners.

A joint initiative between Sunset+Vine and the sport’s governing body World Sailing, The World Sailing Show is a monthly 30-minute programme series covering a wide range of global racing activity from non-stop around the world racers to Olympic campaigns and grand prix series. Now in its 15th year, it reported record-breaking viewing figures during 2018 with over 60 TV broadcasters in 200 territories taking the monthly magazine series.

The World Sailing Show’s YouTube platform has had  over five million views worldwide since launch.

Andrew Preece, Executive Director, Sunset+Vine, said: “We’re delighted that Alec has joined our team. The World Sailing Show continues to show exponential growth as a TV proposition and, in recent years, has achieved break-through status in the digital space. We are keen to continue its upward trajectory and Alec’s appointment underscores our commitment to realising this ambition. His experience of mainstream sport and knowledge of sailing will be a key strength in the next phase of development of the series.”

Alec Wilkinson, the newly appointed Series Producer, added:  “The World Sailing Show is the only independent programme that delves into the sport of sailing with quality editorial. It’s a programme that has resonated with the sailing community the world over and its viewing figures show a growing appeal. I look forward to the challenge of continuing this sporting success story.”
