An Advanced Writing for TV Drama programme has been launched by MediaXchange and Creative Skillset’s High End TV Council.

Supported and fully funded by the High End TV Levy, the programme is open to writers with accreditation and experience in the television and creative industries.

Advanced Writing for TV Drama is a combination of tutorials, seminars, workshops and experience sharing  with industry leading writers, development execs and producers. The programme will focus on the development of both writing skills and a knowledge of the industry while working towards the goal of a commissionable original project.

Registration is now open and closes on 18th April.

Katrina Wood, CEO of MediaXchange (pictured) said the programme “provides an unmissable opportunity for already experienced writers to grow their value and bring forward their voices in the TV Drama business.”

Writer and Producer Bryan Elsley, a member of the High End TV Council and CEO of Balloon Entertainment, said: “The demands of modern TV Drama mean that writers with initial experience in the medium need to develop advanced skills to compete in a fast moving, increasingly international arena. Writing teams, production and script editing expertise, working on long running series, working with producers and executives often from other overseas markets; these are the skills which writers need to develop.”
