Vagabond Design, led by founder Rudi Thackray, has completed the new set design for MasterChef UK’s Birmingham relocation.
The project saw the globally recognised cookery format move into the Grade II-listed Banana Warehouse in Digbeth — a 200-year-old building transformed into a purpose-built studio.
For Vagabond, the challenge was twofold: designing for a long-running format with a fiercely loyal audience, while also adapting the show to a new space with unique heritage features.
The result is a complete redesign and build that bridges heritage architecture with broadcast practicality, “ensuring the set can support the pace and energy of the competition while respecting the historic fabric of the venue.”
