Seagate has announced the LaCie Rugged SSD4, a compact external solid-state drive (SSD) “built for creators working beyond the four walls of a studio.”
The Rugged SSD4 delivers up to 4000MB/s read and 3800MB/s write speeds. The drive’s USB 40Gbps port allows users to quickly transfer files and work directly from the drive across Mac, iPad, PC, and mobile phones.

Beyond speed, the Rugged SSD4 is IP54-rated for dust and water resistance and drop-tested to 3 meters. Its signature orange bumper, designed by Neil Poulton, reinforces its durability for remote shoots and on-the-go edits.
With capacities up to 4TB, the Rugged SSD4 is ready to handle everything from RAW footage to high-resolution audio. The drive contains a minimum of 35% post-consumer recycled materials by weight. Also included is a two-month Adobe Creative Cloud Pro membership and a three-year limited warranty with Rescue Data Recovery Services.
