The revamped version of long running comedy panel show, Mock the Week, is to TX on February 1st.

The nine-episode series, produced by Angst Productions, was commissioned for TLC last year.

As with the original series, the show is once again hosted by Dara Ó Briain and panellists already confirmed include Rhys James, Sara Pascoe, Angela Barnes, Ed Byrne, Ahir Shah, Milton Jones, Katherine Ryan, Hugh Dennis, Sarah Keyworth, Lou Sanders, Glenn Moore, Ellie Taylor and Russell Howard.

The new series stays true to the classic Mock the Week format, featuring iconic rounds such as If This Is the Answer, What Is the Question?, Wheel of News, Picture of the Week and Scenes We’d Like to See. There will also be new rounds, created especially for the expanded 60-minute format.

Host Dara Ó Briain said: “I’m genuinely delighted to be back doing Mock the Week and on TLC. From what I remember, it’s a show that thrives on silly jokes from smart people and any actual insight is purely accidental. Also, from what I remember, my job was mainly just pressing a buzzer and handing out imaginary points. I can still do that. Here, have some imaginary points! That’s how easy it is. Also, it’s coming back just in time to confuse people who had only just heard it had been cancelled. See you there!”

TLC launches on free-to-air in the UK today with multi-award-winning comedy series The Big Bang Theory, plus spin-off Young Sheldon, and Mike and Molly. The UK premiere of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage follows on 18 January. The movie roster includes the Transformers franchise, The Truman Show, Blades of Glory and Zoolander, as well as TLC series Dr Pimple Popper, The Bad Skin Clinic, My 600Lb Life and the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, including the UK spin-off; plus from April new series Zero Stars, produced by CPL, which sees British comedians Roisin Conaty and Sara Pascoe journey across the globe.
