FilmNova has won a competitive tender from Channel 4 to produce live coverage of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup for the next three seasons.
Coverage begins with the Third Round Proper on the weekend of Saturday 13 December.
Fronted by the new presenting duo Maisie Adam and Jill Scott, Channel 4’s coverage will put fans and local communities at its heart. Each programme will open with Jill and Maisie’s Road to Wembley, filmed in the host town or city the day before each match. The pair will meet supporters, club characters and local personalities, exploring the stories, pride and culture that surround each team.
Live at the match, Jill and Maisie will take viewers behind the scenes with players, coaches and pundits, offering a fresh perspective on the matchday experience. This will be combined with live production and extensive digital crossover content.
Alison Lombardi Executive Producer at FilmNova, said: “As well as bringing to life a new and fresh concept and introducing a fantastic new presenting double act in Maisie and Jill, we have also broken the mould off-screen. All our top line production roles are filled by female industry professionals, from Lucy and myself as Execs to Gemma Knight as Match Director and Lucy Barber as Match Producer. “
Pete Andrews, Head of Sport at Channel 4, said: “We’re delighted to be working with FilmNova on this exciting new chapter for the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. Their creative vision, fun, fan-focussed and full of character, will bring something genuinely fresh to football coverage, and we can’t wait for viewers to experience it.”
