Sheffield-based production company Warp Films has been named Production Company of the Year at this year’s Edinburgh TV Awards.

Founded by Mark Herbert, the company has been crafting award-winning dramas for film and television for over 20 years. From  feature films Submarine, Four Lions, and Tyrannosaur to series This Is England, international drama The Last Panthers, and the critically acclaimed Southcliffe.

Followed up by the bilingual project Reunion, a BBC-commissioned emotional revenge thriller using both British Sign Language and spoken English, penned by deaf writer William Mager.

Speaking about the accolade, Mark Herbert, Founder and CEO of Warp Films, said: “This award is a real honour for the Warp Films team. We pride ourselves on telling stories that are bold, authentic and global with a very British perspective. Our company was built on the ethos that we are reasonable people, and our dramas have always been told with heart, integrity, with great characters at their core. We are incredibly proud to continue that legacy, working with top-tier talent and creating great British TV.”

When collecting the award, Herbert was joined on stage by Warp Films Chief Creative Officer Emily Feller, COO & CFO Niall Shamma, Peter Balm who is Commercial Director, Head of Production Leo Martin and Senior Executive Producer Peter Carlton.

Earlier this year, the award-winning team announced they had acquired the rights to the 1980s nuclear war film Threads.
