The winners of the British Independent Film Awards have been revealed with the debut feature from director Harry Lighton, Pillion, scooping four awards including Best British Independent Film.
The film was also the winner in three other categories. Lighton picked up the Best Debut Screenwriter prize and Diandra Ferreira won the Best Make-Up and Hair Design prize for the film with Grace Snell winning Best Costume Design.
Other multiple winners included Kirk Jones’ I Swear with the film winning Best Casting (Lauren Evans) Best Lead Performance (Robert Aramayo).
Warfare was the winner for Best Editing (Fin Oates); Best Effects (Simon Stanley-Clamp and Ryan Conder); Best Ensemble Performance (Joseph Quinn, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Finn Bennett, Charles Melton, and Kit Connor) and Best Sound (Glenn Freemantle, Mitch Low, Howard Bargroff, Ben Barker and Richard Spooner).
The Ballad of Wallis Island was the winner across Best Joint Lead (Tom Basden and Tim Key)
Best Original Music (Tom Basden and Adem Ilhan) with Tom Basden and Tim Key winning Best Screenplay too.
The Best Director Award went to Akinola Davies Jr. for the film My Father’s Shadow and Best Cinematography was won by Seamus McGarvey for Die My Love.
The Special Jury Prize went to Warp Films.
