BBC Studios Productions has launched a search for a new London-based MD of Scripted, as Mark Linsey focusses solely on the company’s scripted operations in LA.

The incoming MD will assume responsibility for BBC Studios’ Drama and Comedy production units with titles such as Death Valley, Trying, Inside No.9, Mammoth, Silent Witness, Father Brown and EastEnders – and majority owned labels Clerkenwell Films, Baby Cow Productions, Firebird Pictures, House Productions, Lookout Point, and Sid Gentle Films as well as invested indies, Boffola, VAL, Expectation and Turbine.

Linsey, who has been based in LA since 2023, will remain in post during the recruitment process and in his new role as BBC Studios Productions’ President, LA Scripted, will focus exclusively on expanding the company’s scripted footprint from Los Angeles, building on the success of adapting UK titles such as Ghosts for CBS.

During his leadership tenure, BBC Studios has delivered a slate of  TV and film titles including Good Omens, Doctor Who, Sherwood, BAFTA and Emmy winner Baby Reindeer and the Oscar-winning Conclave

Zai Bennett, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of BBC Studios Productions, says: “We’re excited to begin the search for Mark’s successor to take our UK scripted business into its next chapter. Mark’s move to solely focus on Los Angeles reflects an ambition to double down on our scripted growth plans in the U.S., whilst we continue to invest in and support our exceptional UK producers and labels. I want to pay tribute to him for the incredible leadership he has shown over the last 5 years in Scripted, delivering bold, distinctive, and award-winning drama and comedy titles.”
