New indie Bango Studios, led by Emily Hudd and Iain Wimbush, has been commissioned to produce this year’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
Bango Studios will oversee an extended slate including a live night of entertainment, ambitious national stunts, and a nightly round-up show airing on Channel 4 in the lead-up to the main event.
Stand Up To Cancer 2025 launches on Friday 5th December and culminates in a night of live television on Friday 12thDecember. Between 5th and 12th December Bango will produce a series of real-world stunts and fundraising activities in a week of social media campaigning. Strongwatch Studios will produce the digital content from each of the stunts and activities.
The live night on Friday 12th December will feature a new factual format at its heart: Cancer Clinic: Live, produced by Bango Studios and HiddenLight. Presented by Davina McCall, the programme takes viewers inside the cancer clinics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. For the first time on UK television, audiences will witness clinical consultations in real time, following patients and families through diagnosis, treatment and results.
A major barrier to early diagnosis is fear of the unknown; Cancer Clinic: Live aims to demystify the clinical experience, reduce anxiety for those hesitant to seek testing, and highlight the life-saving impact of early detection.
Stand Up To Cancer will also feature special episodes of Celebrity Gogglebox produced by Studio Lambert and The Last Leg produced by Open Mike Productions.
Working with Channel4 and CRUK, Bango have produced Screening Checker which makes it easy to find out if we are all up to date on our NHS cancer screening. Celebrities including Hugh Bonneville, Rosie Jones, Meera Syal and Krishnan Guru-Murthy guide users through information provided by Cancer Research UK’s world leading health experts. Jessie J also features on the site, speaking powerfully about her own breast cancer diagnosis to inspire others to get checked.
Stand Up To Cancer 2025 is commissioned for Channel 4 by Tom Beck, Head of Live Events and Commissioning Editor, Reality & Entertainment, Vivienne Molokwu, Senior Commissioning Editor, Reality & Entertainment, and Steve Handley, Head of Reality & Entertainment. It is produced by Bango Studios and the executive producers are Emily Hudd, Chris Sawyer, Richard Greenwood and Anna Blue.
