Baby Cow Productions, part of BBC Studios, has promoted Rupert Majendie to Chief Creative Officer.
Previously Head of Development at Baby Cow, Majendie will now work closely with Baby Cow’s Founder, Steve Coogan, to lead the company’s creative direction across TV comedy and drama, film, digital and audio.
Majendie has been a driving creative force at Baby Cow since joining in 2019. He developed and produced the critically acclaimed The Ballad of Wallis Island, which premiered at Sundance in 2025, and the recently announced Bill’s Included— a Rob Brydon sitcom for BBC One.
His Baby Cow credits as an executive producer include dramas Brian & Maggie and Chivalry for Channel 4, Alan Carr’s Changing Ends for ITV, Live at the Moth Club for Dave, Fanmail with Lolly Adefope for Audible, and the upcoming new series of Alan Partridge and Christmas comedy Stuffed, starring Guz Khan, for BBC One.
The announcement follows the departure of Sarah Monteith, who served as Chief Executive Officer for the past five years.
Rupert Majendie said: “It’s a huge privilege to step up into this role at a company I love. Baby Cow has always championed bold, brilliant voices and unexpected storytelling and that spirit feels more vital than ever. I’m excited to build on what we’ve started, alongside Steve and our incredible team, as we shape the next chapter across comedy and drama.”
Steve Coogan said: “Fresh off the back of his success with The Ballad of Wallis Island, Rupert is the perfect person to spearhead the creative direction of Baby Cow. Respected by artists and commissioners alike, he attracts the smart talent, he knows how to marry comedy with drama and vice versa. We’re glad to have him.”
Sarah Monteith said: “I came into Baby Cow as a fan and focused on taking the company into a new era. I’m immensely proud of the team we’ve built and our commissioning success over the last five years. So it’s a good time for me to step back, and I’m so pleased to pass the baton to Rupert, he will be brilliant!”
