Newly-launched scripted indie Moonage Pictures has hired Matthew Wilson as the company’s new head of development.

Matthew Wilson, who previously lead the development slate at Channel 4 will join Moonage Pictures founders Will Gould, Matthew Read and Frith Tiplady to spearhead the independent company’s writer-led development slate.

Matthew Wilson said, “Matthew, Will and Frith each have an extraordinary track record – and between them they’ve produced and commissioned the very best British drama of the last decade. It’s a huge privilege to be joining up with them at the beginning of this new adventure, and I can’t wait to start making shows together.”

Moorage co-founder Matthew Read said, “I was starting to feel a little uneasy being the only Matthew at Moonage Pictures, so I’m thrilled that Matthew Wilson has decided to join us. The fact that he’s super smart, immensely talented and a man with a noble heart is an obvious bonus.”

The indie, which officially launched in March 2018, recently announced that BBC Studios has acquired a stake in the start up.

Moonage Pictures first production is Curfew an eight-part fast-paced “life and death road race thriller” written by Moonage’s Matthew Read, starring Phoebe Fox, Malachi Kirby, Sean Bean, Rose Williams, Miranda Richardson, Adrian Lester and Billy Zane.

The new drama development slate lead by Matthew Wilson will be announced soon.
