Blink Films (a Tin Roof Media company) is in production on a documentary investigating what DNA may tell us about Hitler.
The series will premiere on Channel 4 in the UK later this autumn and is being launched by ITV Studios to international buyers at MIPCOM 2025.
Three years in the making, Hitler’s DNA: Blueprint of a Dictator (2×60’/1×90‘) uses a sample of Adolf Hitler’s DNA -confirmed by rigorous scientific testing- to show whether his genes played a part in influencing his psychology and behaviour.
This 2×60 series sees world-leading geneticist Dr Turi King and renowned World War II historian Dr Alex Kay work with a global assortment of health professionals, behaviour experts and other scientists for the first time to decode and analyse the genetic makeup of one of history’s most written-about despots. The revelations will shed new light on everything from Hitler’s close personal relationships to his political and social beliefs.
Jonah Weston, Commissioning Editor at Channel 4 says: “Nothing can ever fully explain Adolf Hitler’s evil. But finding Hitler’s DNA is an incredible feat of scientific detective work – and gives unprecedented insights into history’s most studied man.”
Dan Chambers, Creative Director, Blink Films says: “For 80 years, there has been lots of speculation about Hitler’s medical and psychiatric conditions. Now, by looking into his DNA for the first time in history, we’re able to reveal a whole series of things – some that we might have expected, others that are really surprising.”
Hitler’s DNA: Blueprint of a Dictator is a Blink Films production for Channel 4. It is directed by James Routh, produced by Zoé Wiggins, and the executive producers are Dan Chambers and Nina Davies. It was commissioned for Channel 4 by Jonah Weston and Emily Shields.
