The BBC’s Syeda Irtizaali is joining Netflix UK as Director of Unscripted Series.

Irtizaali will be part of Anne Mensah’s team where she will be responsible for programming the UK and Ireland’s unscripted series slate.

Irtizaali joins Netflix UK from the BBC, where she was most recently Interim Director of Unscripted, overseeing Entertainment, Documentaries, Factual Entertainment, Specialist Factual, Arts, Daytime and Storyville. Her time at the BBC saw her secure and manage hit series including Traitors UK and Destination X.

She has also worked at Channel 4 as Commissioning Editor for Entertainment and Live Events where she was responsible for commissioning hits such as The Million Pound Drop, The Last Leg, and The Big Fat Quiz of The Year.

A journalist by trade, Irtizaali started her career at BBC News before working across several independent production companies including Monkey, Planet 24, Diverse, At It and Brighter.
