Applications are now open for Future Wales, a new joint initiative led by Pact and the Welsh Government via Creative Wales.
Future Wales is based on Pact’s successful Future30 scheme – which launched in 2021 as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations – and is designed to identify promising independent production companies in Wales and help them develop into global businesses. It follows on from Future North East, which Pact ran from 2023-2025,supported by North East Screen.
The two-year scheme is open to both members and non-members of Pact registered in Wales whose turnover has not yet exceeded £2million per annum. Benefits include two years’ free Pact membership and a tailored development programme giving participants access to industry experts to help them to develop and grow their businesses.
Applications are now open and will close on 15th October. Indies are invited to submit a video pitch to be judged by a panel of experienced producers and experts, with the selected participants unveiled in November, and the first workshop taking place later that month.
The judges are Alwyn Davies, Rondo Media, Rhiannon Forsyth, NFTS Cymru and Siwan Phillips, S4C.
Pact’s Director of Nations and Regions, Chris Curley said: “Following the success of Pact’s Future30 and Future North East schemes, we are delighted to be able to create a new cohort of indies in partnership with Creative Wales. Wales is rich in creative talent and we look forward to working with and supporting the selected indies to help them develop, grow and scale their businesses in an ever evolving and fast changing screen landscape. Pob lwc!”
Minister for Culture, Jack Sargeant, said: “I am pleased that this new initiative, which is based on similar successful schemes previously rolled out across the UK, will benefit Welsh indie production companies. This partnership will offer them a unique opportunity to access the knowledge of leading industry experts who can help prepare them for global business development opportunities.”
