Producer and distributor Cineflix has recruited Piers Vellacott as Chief Commercial Officer, Content, and Executive Producer.

Vellacott will be responsible for driving Cineflix’s overall commercial strategy across its unscripted and scripted content, as well as having oversight of the C3 Media and Buccaneer slates. Leveraging the financing opportunities that Cineflix can bring together, with the company’s expertise in co-production, Vellacott will work closely with the group’s development and production teams based in North America and the UK.

Vellacott spent 16 years as Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Producer at RAW, where he oversaw long-running hit series including Gold Rush and Locked Up Abroad, and documentaries such as The Tindler Swindler, The Imposter, and Three Identical Strangers. His scripted portfolio as exec producer includes American Animals, Dream Horse, and Encounter.

More than a dozen series are in production and premiering across the Cineflix group for US, European and international broadcasters and streamers, including unscripted shows such as Cirque Life (CBC), History’s Greatest Picks with Mike Wolfe (History Channel), Secrets of the Bunny Ranch (A&E), Investigation Shark Attack and Air Crash Investigation/Mayday: Air Disaster season 25 (National Geographic International), Spring Break Murders season 2 (Hearst Networks, EMEA and Bell Media), and season 4 of Rock Solid Builds (Home Network, Canada), as well as the upcoming scripted dramas Anna Pigeon (USA Network and Bell Media) and In Flight (Channel 4).

The group’s international distribution division, Cineflix Rights, has expanded its catalogue by 25% over the past year, with a 7,500-hour content slate from more than 200 producers around the world; and as part of its rapidly growing digital and direct-to-consumer business, Cineflix now operates a suite of 10 FAST channels on more than 50 platform channel connectors across North America as well as 15 YouTube channels worldwide, incorporating some of its biggest international franchises such as Property Brothers and Mayday: Air Disaster.
