ITV has confirmed the companies that have been matched with one of the broadcaster’s commissioners and will receive funding to pitch to a brief, as part of the second year of Amplify: The Regions.
Five companies have now been chosen: Beagle Media based in Newquay, Bright Branch based in Cardiff, High Rock Media based in Northern Ireland, Osprey Television based in Deeside North Wales and Studio Something based in Leith, Edinburgh.
Amplify: The Regions is part of ITV’s commitment to work closely with Independent Production Companies across the regions and accelerate our relationships with them.
Controller of Current Affairs Tom Giles (Beagle Media), Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor Kate Teckman (Studio Something), Entertainment Commissioning Editor Louise Major (Bright Branch Media), Reality Commissioning Editor Amanda Stavri (Osprey Television), and Daytime Commissioner Leanne Clarke (High Rock Media) have been matched with the chosen production companies.
The five companies will receive a brief. As part of the initiative, each chosen company will be given £5,000 to develop any potential ideas.
If the ideas are greenlit, the next step will be to go through the standard ITV commissioning process. If ideas are not right for ITV, then the production companies are free to pitch their ideas to others.
The aim of the initiative is to further strengthen and accelerate ITV’s relationships with the regional independent production community and to get great stories from the UK onto ITV’s platforms.
ITV’s commissioning team have had positive feedback from the first year of Amplify: The Regions, with productive and continuing commissioner/producer relationships on-going, with active developments in train, and a greenlit unscripted commission amongst the cohort.
