World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP) has announced Rio de Janeiro as the host city for its 33rd edition in December.

Hosted by the Rio Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation with support from Rio de Janeiro’s Mayors Office and industry partners Grifa Filmes, Instituto Serrapilheira, LatAm Content Meeting, Rio Market, and TV Brasil this marks the first-ever WCSFP held in South America.

“Each year, Congress captures the pulse of our industry — and this year, that pulse is accelerating with unprecedented intensity,” said Paul Lewis, WCSFP Conference Director. “WCSFP 2025 will confront vital questions around AI, digital platforms, and the evolving creator economy, as we navigate how to stay creative and connected in a rapidly shifting world. There is no better destination than the vibrant and dynamic Rio de Janeiro to embody this momentum. Its energy, diversity, and spirit of innovation mirror the transformative forces shaping our field.”

World Congress of Science & Factual Producers brings almost 600 delegates including producers, broadcasters, streamers, philanthropists, scientists, and cross-platform creators from over 30 countries each year. Key decision makers attend representing companies including National Geographic, BBC Studios, Discovery, ITV Studios, PBS, NHK, France Télévisions, CBC, ARTE, ZDF, ABC, Netflix, CuriosityStream, TikTok, YouTube, and Ubisoft, alongside independent storytellers, producers, filmmakers, podcasters, digital creators, science communicators, and subject-matter experts.
