Wales-based factual indie, Wildflame Productions, has been commissioned to make a documentary for BBC One Wales and BBC Network alongside a number of other commissions.

BBC One commission The Island Keeper (w/t) (1 x 30 mins) follows the life of the new Warden of Flat Holm Island, a historic island perched four miles out at sea, off the coast of  South East Wales. He is about to turn the page on a new chapter in his own life and experience his first summer season on an island that is home to the second largest gull colony in Europe, a treasure trove of history, about to face its busiest season to date. The film is part of the BBC’s Our Lives strand.

Last year’s fact-ent format, another addition to Wildflame’s growing fact-ent slate, has been recommissioned by BBC Wales.  Amy Dowden’s Dare to Dance (5 x 30 mins) for BBC One Wales sees Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden coach people of all ages and backgrounds, from across Wales, to surprise their friends and family with a performance to remember.

Connie Fisher, Head of Development, Wildflame Productions, says: “The range of different types of stories we are telling in these new and returning programmes is a real testament to our versatility at Wildflame.”

The company will also explore, for the first time, true crime in a new series for S4C. Euog (w/t) (6 x 60 mins) sees popular TV journalist Sian Lloyd examine how the impact of a singular crime can change Wales forever – its people, its places, and even its prosecution system. Lloyd will explore a broad spectrum of Wales’ most shocking crimes, “revealing the impact on people, places and even the way we prosecute today.”

The Island Keeper (w/t) was commissioned by Christina Macaulay, BBC Wales. It is Exec Produced by Luke Pavey and Catrin Mair Jones for Wildflame Productions. Amy Dowden’s Dare to Dance was commissioned by Sian Harris, BBC Wales. It is Exec Produced by Simon Kerfoot for Wildflame Productions. EUOG (w/t) was commissioned by Iwan England, S4C. It is Exec Produced by Susie Phillips for Wildflame Productions.
