Thaddea Graham (Sex Education, Bad Sisters, After the Hunt, Jay Kelly), Amber Grappy (One Day, Black Mirror) and Laura Marcus (Star Wars Andor, Bad Education, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the reaping) have joined the cast of BLOODSUCKERS, the debut short film written and directed by MRMR’s Rosie Brear (Brear has produced music videos for PJ Harvey, Blood Orange, Wet Leg and more).
The soundtrack has been created by Lynks, and the short film, which filmed last year, will be submitted for film festivals throughout 2026. BLOODSUCKERS has received a longlist nomination for the 1.4 awards.
Bliss (Thaddea Graham) is 26, lonely, and convinced she’s a vampire slayer. But when her housemate Molly (Laura Marcus) takes her relentless bullying a step too far, Bliss comes to the conclusion that perhaps the demons she’s been hunting have been under her roof the whole time…
Thaddea Graham is an award-nominated actress and writer who has previously been seen in After The Hunt (Dir. Luca Guadagnino), Sex Education (Netflix), and Bad Sisters (Apple), and has recently wrapped Margot’s Got Money Troubles (Apple TV) opposite Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman. Graham was nominated for Best Actress at the RTS Awards 2025, and was previously named one of Ireland’s rising stars in Screen International Rising Stars Ireland. She will soon be seen in new Netflix film Jay Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach and starring George Clooney, Eve Hewson, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern and Greta Gerwig.
Amber Grappy previously starred in One Day alongside Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall, HBO’s The Baby and two series of BBC’s queer-focused show Wreck. In 2023 she was the lead in Olivier-Award winning play SLEEPOVA at the Bush Theatre and played Audrey in Ralph Fiennes’ production of As You Like It in 2025. Grappy has also appeared in Series 7 of award-winning hit series Black Mirror.
Laura Marcus is a multi-talented actress, model and filmmaker, who was previously awarded Best Writer at the BFI Future Film Festival for her short-film ‘The massive f*cking bender’. Marcus has starred in multiple award-winning TV series’ such as Bad Education (BBC, Tiger Aspect), Silent Witness (BBC), The Serpent Queen (Lionsgate), The Jetty (Firebird, BBC) and Star Wars: Andor (LucasFilm, Disney). She can also be seen in the upcoming blockbuster The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Rosie Brear, director and writer of BLOODSUCKERS says: “Written in lockdown, Bloodsuckers is my love letter to London flatshares. It’s a film about loneliness and finding your place in the world, however unconventional it may be.”
BLOODSUCKERS is written, directed and produced by Rosie Brear (MrMr), produced by Katie Lambert (MrMr) and Will Wood (Method in Madness, Multitude Media). Executive producers are Nick Sadler, Kirsty Bell, Martha McGuirk, Connor O’Hara, Will Wood and Jamie Gamache. With music by Lynks and director of photography Rik Burnell (The Jury: muder trial, Red Herring). BLOODSUCKERS is a MrMr, Method in Madness, Lowkey and First Flights production.
BLOODSUCKERS won the First Flights scriptwriting grant and was supported by Kodak, Panavision, SHL, Final Cut and Company 3. Through the grant, the film was awarded £5k as well as a generous donation from Kodak of 16mm stock to shoot Bloodsuckers on film.
