Ahead of IBC, Televisual publishes the full report from its latest Televisual Roundtable, bringing together over a dozen senior technical and operational leaders from across broadcasters, production companies and post.

The central contention being explored was how does post deliver more, faster and with fewer resources, and reconcile this when workflows, security requirements and technical complexity continue to increase and schedules become more fluid. How can post become more efficient?

The Roundtable contributors looked at where meaningful efficiencies can still be found from automation and better utilisation to hybrid infrastructure, secure connectivity and removing hundreds of small workflow inefficiencies that collectively add significant cost.

As infrastructure becomes more distributed and interchangeable, contributors argue that post’s enduring value lies in people, creative judgement, workflow expertise and the ability to join increasingly complex production processes together.

The report touches upon an increasingly important question for post. If technology changes how work is delivered, how should the post house evolve?
