Tall Story Pictures, the ITV Studios label behind hit returning dramas such as The Bay and Grace, has named Phil Hunter as Executive Producer.
Working across projects both in production and development, Hunter becomes Executive Producer on the next series of Grace, the ITV drama which is an adaptation of international best-selling author Peter James’ award winning novels, starring John Simm as Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace.
Most recently, Hunter was co-producer on the Apple TV+ show Criminal Record starring Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, while prior to that he was Executive Producer on five series of ITV’s Vera for fellow ITV Studios label, Silverprint Pictures.
Other credits include producing Midsomer Murders for Bentley Productions, as well as working as a producer and script editor on a range of shows such as Hollyoaks, EastEnders, Holby City and Hustle. Previous roles also include Head of Production for Kay Mellor’s Rollem Productions and Production Executive at Mammoth Screen.
Catherine Oldfield, Creative Director of Tall Story Pictures, said: “Phil is a fantastic storyteller and a brilliant executive producer, so I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome him to Tall Story Pictures.”
Phil Hunter said: “I’ve long admired the vision and scale Catherine has for Tall Story Pictures, so I’m thrilled to be joining the team. I can’t wait to get going on the next series of Grace; it’s a real privilege to step on to such a successful and well loved show with so much amazing talent at the heart of it.”
Tall Story Pictures, which was founded in 2016, also produces ITV’s Morecambe-based drama The Bay, which has sold into over 140 territories across the world and is returning for a fifth series, while brand new crime drama Redemption also aired earlier this year on ITV and Virgin Media Television.
