Sugar Films’ founder Nav Raman has set up her own factual entertainment indie Chatterbox Media after leaving Sky-backed Sugar late last year.
Raman has set up the company with producer/ director Alison Quirk whose credits include Gogglebox, Come Dine With Me, Food Inspectors, Underage and Pregnant and and Gold Rush.
Raman’s credits include Siege in the Sahara for C4/PBS, Jo Malone’s High St Dreams for BBC1 and How to be a Spy for CBBC. She was formerly a C4 Fact Entertainment Commissioning Editor with a slate including Child Genius, Bratcamp, The Unteachables and Bollywood Star.
Chatterbox describes itself as “a brand spanking new and 100 percent independent production company. We want to develop the very best ideas, and encourage the most creative new and established talent both on an off screen, with flexible working and great partnership deals for those we work with.”
Deadline Hollywood has reported that Lucy Pilkington, who also founded Sugar alongside Pat Younge, Kwadjo Dajan and Narinder Minhas, is also exiting the company.
Sugar was formed in 2015 and in 2016 Sky took a minority stake in the indie with former Discovery Networks International president and CEO Mark Hollinger also taking a stake, becoming Chairman.
