Spring Films is to produce a new feature doc with filmmaker Werner Herzog who will team up once again with Geo-scientist Professor Clive Oppenheimer to co direct a new film to explore mankind’s relationship to meteorites.
In Fireball, Herzog and Oppenheimer will go on a journey around the world to discover how meteorites and comets inspire mythology and religion and what they can tell us about the extra-terrestrial origins of life on Earth, the birth of the universe itself and maybe even our own destiny.
The two previously collaborated on the Emmy-nominated feature documentary Into the Inferno. Producers Andre Singer and Lucki Stipetic will also join the project.
Spring Films’ Head of Global Development Figs Jackman will be unveiling the project for the first time at MIPCOM in Cannes.
“We’re really excited to work with Werner Herzog and Clive Oppenheimer again as they turn their gaze to the stars” said Spring Films’ Head of Global Development Figs Jackman.
‘Fireball’ will be produced by Andre Singer and Lucki Stipetic. Executive producer is Richard Melman and the film is a Spring Films and Werner Herzog Film production.
The project is the latest in a long running collaboration between the indie and Werner Herzog Films. Most recently the companies produced the critically-acclaimed ‘Meeting Gorbachev’ for A&E, ‘Into the Inferno’ for Netflix and ‘Death Row’ for Channel 4 and Discovery.
