ITV Studios has announced that the hit travel reality competition Worlds Apart created by South Shore, backed by ITV Studios, is expanding internationally for the first time.
The show has been commissioned by public broadcaster DR (Danmarks Radio) in Denmark. Production is underway on the Danish adaptation, which will be produced locally by ITV Studios Denmark.
Mads Lund, MD ITV Studios Denmark, “We are incredibly proud to bring the very first international version of Worlds Apart to Denmark. The format’s cross-generational appeal and its mix of travel, competition and entertainment make it a fantastic fit for DR, and we’re excited to showcase a distinctly Danish take on this bold new series.”
In 2025, Worlds Apart, produced by South Shore and commissioned by Channel 4 in the UK, delivered impressive ratings with both 16-24s and over 65s. For both age groups, it outperformed Channel 4’s slot averages (share up 38% and 18% respectively) and at time of broadcast in 2025, it was Channel 4’s best entertainment launch since 2023. The finished tape has already been sold to 42 territories to date.
In Worlds Apart, teens who’ve never left their home country are paired with adults who think their travelling days are behind them. Together, they embark on a life-changing journey across a new country, navigating a high-stakes treasure hunt through vibrant cities.
Worlds Apart is distributed internationally by ITV Studios.
